Laser Hair Removal Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Do Laser Treatments Cost?

Laser Hair Removal is an excellent solution to simply reduce the amount of excessive body hair. Particularly relevant to men, hair reduction from just two or three treatments provides the wanted solution to excessive hair on areas such as legs and hands – although, many of our male clients, especially those engaged in sports, seek complete removal in these areas too.

In addition, you will benefit from your active lifestyle, since laser hair removal is an exceptional method to increase self-confidence and live an even more active lifestyle. In fact, the convenience, efficiency, and appeal of smooth skin is recognized by triathletes, swimmers, runners, cyclists, body builders, and beach goers alike. Laser hair removal is a great way to keep yourself active and ready to participate in all of life’s great adventures.

The length of an individual hair removal treatment session is determined by the density of the hair growth and overall size of the area being treated. Small areas may take as little as 15 minutes or less while larger areas, such as the back and legs, may require up to an hour or longer.

The number of treatments required for long-term benefits depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and the hair's growth cycle. There are three phases of hair growth — Anagen (active), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting). Laser technology is designed to treat hair in the Anagen phase of growth.

Additional factors, including age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism, influence hair growth and play a role in the location, thickness and resilience of your hair. Although each client is unique, experience tells us that you can expect an average of 6-12 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart, depending on the body location of the unwanted hair.

How Long is a Laser Hair Removal Treatment Session?

The morning of your appointment, give the area to be treated a close shave to ensure the comfortable and effectiveness of your treatment. Refrain from plucking, tweezing, and waxing until the day of your treatment day. Remember, any waxing or any other method that removes the entire hair follicle, including the root, must be discontinued at least three weeks prior to treatment. Also, make sure to have the area cleansed and keep it free from any lotions, creams, or fragrances. For underarms, avoid using deodorant prior to your arrival.

Clinical studies show that with the right laser platform coupled with a learned practitioner, permanent hair reduction of roughly 85-99% can be achieved. Sarah Laser Center uses the most powerful and clinically proven technology and only licensed laser professions to ensure the best possible results. There are, however, many different factors that can influence the effectiveness of treatment. Such things include hair color and coarseness, skin tone as well as hormonal changes and other genetic considerations. For these reasons, hair regrowth is still possible at some point whether it's a reduced amount, finer version, or a combination of both.

As such, some clients will require a few additional treatments in order to achieve their personal level of desired results.

Will I Have a Lasting Smooth Skin?

Laser hair removal is the safest and most efficient solution for permanently ridding yourself of unwanted hair. Its popularity as one of the most sought after non-invasive cosmetic procedures is not surprising, as so many people can now enjoy the lifestyle of lasting smooth skin and the convenience of no longer having to shave.

Typically clients will see results in 6-8 treatments, though this number will vary based on skin tone and hair color. Your laser technician will speak with you about the variables that may affect your individual results and will develop the best treatment plan to meet your expectations.

Once we destroy a hair follicle, it will never produce hair again. Any remaining hair follicles will produce hairs that are lighter and thinner, requiring much less attention than before. Again, we offer clearance of roughly 85-99%, with some variation from person to person. New hair follicles may form over time as a result of aging, hormonal changes, and individual genetics. For these reasons, some clients elect to schedule annual touch-up treatments to maintain their results.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Lasers safely remove unwanted facial and body hair by selectively targeting melanin (pigment) inside the hair follicle. Energy in the form of heat is generated at the root of the hair. This heat energy destroys the hair without damaging the skin.

The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin. Slight redness or localized swelling may occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.
